THE PEACEFUL POWER OF ARTMAKING
For people or organizations dealing with illness or caregiving; incarcerated individuals, victims of trauma, or those in need of healing. The day-to-day struggles involved with illness can leave little time and energy to explore things like creative writing and visual art. Yet these pursuits have been scientifically and experientially proven to provide tremendous therapeutic benefits. Within each individual, regardless of circumstance, is the ability to imagine, to make metaphors, to describe visually, to remember, and to gain distance, perspective, and coping skills, through artistic creation. In a peaceful and supportive environment, participants will be encouraged to experiment, explore various materials and new processes. Music, meditation and body-centering techniques will be part of each session. The Peaceful Power of Artmaking is offered on a “upon request” basis.
